AIM24S/GS21 combination August 21, 2006

Investigation to improve the Signal-to-Noise ratio when digital data is transmitted directly from the seismometer up the borehole led to the recent attachment of a GS-21 seismometer to an AIM24S digitizer. The results showed little or no reduction in noise when tested at Sandia National Laboratories. This result may have been produced by the low impedance seismometer used in the test and/or the exceptional common mode rejection available in SHI’s AIM24S Digitizer. This data was presented at the Seismic Research Review meeting in September 2006.
